DESTINATION WEDDING AT CHATEAU DE GARDE

There is something incredibly special about intimate destination weddings at Chateau de Garde. It’s the kind of celebration where every guest truly matters and feels at home. Where every moment feels effortless, and where the entire day unfolds with intention and meaning.

Jean and Robert, an American couple living in Boston, gathered around forty of their closest friends and family members in the French countryside to celebrate their union. Together for over ten years, and surrounded by many of the same friends they have known since high school, they envisioned a wedding experience centered around connection, elegance, and authenticity.

Set against the timeless beauty of Château de Garde, their wedding felt refined yet deeply personal. A perfect balance of emotional moments, sophisticated design, and meaningful traditions.

The wedding planning was thoughtfully prepared by Léa Boralevi, who also manages Château de Garde, while the day-of coordination was handled by the incredible team at Pétillante Weddings. Their collaboration allowed Jean and Robert to remain completely present throughout the day, enjoying every moment with total peace of mind.

As a destination wedding photographer in Bordeaux, these are the kinds of celebrations that feel especially memorable to document: heartfelt, intentional, and full of genuine human connection.

A private "first look" DOWN THE STAIRCASE

Jean slowly walked down the Château’s grand staircase in her beautiful gown while Robert waited below, seeing her for the very first time. It was one of those beautifully suspended moments where everything suddenly becomes very quiet.

After their first look, the couple stepped into one of the elegant salons inside Château de Garde to exchange their vows privately, away from the excitement of the day. This intimate moment allowed them to fully connect before the ceremony and created some of the most emotional memories of the entire wedding day.

There was no rush, no pressure. Only the two of them, fully present together before celebrating in front of their loved ones.

An elegant celebration setup

Their outdoor ceremony took place in front of Château de Garde‘s beautiful « Gloriette », transformed into an ethereal floral setting entirely designed in white tones by Pauline from Atelier Septembre.

The floral design embraced a modern yet poetic aesthetic, with asymmetrical arrangements composed exclusively of white anthuriums, white hydrangeas, white open tulips, white ranunculus, and touches of dried green amaranthus. Flowing drapery added movement and softness to the structure, creating an atmosphere that felt both elegant and romantic. The couple intentionally requested a floral design without foliage, resulting in a very clean, sculptural, and contemporary look.

A ROMANTIC CEREMONY UNDER THE TREES

Their ceremony itself was deeply personal and emotional, officiated by their two best friends. Together, they retraced Jean and Robert’s ten-year love story before inviting them to reinterpret the traditional Korean “Pyebaek” ritual. During this symbolic moment, the couple bowed deeply to honor and express gratitude toward each other’s parents. A beautiful gesture filled with meaning, heritage, and respect.

FLUTTER DARLINGS

Surrounded by the people who matter most to them, they were able to fully enjoy EVERY moment of their wedding day thanks to a laid-back timeline and wonderful vendor team.

What made this celebration so beautiful was not only the elegance of the design or the breathtaking setting, but how perfectly the entire day reflected Jean and Robert themselves. Their wedding at Château de Garde was filled with everything that truly matters: connection and good food.

A MEMORABLE DAY AT CHATEAU DE GARDE

Planning a destination wedding in France is about so much more than choosing a beautiful venue: it is about creating an unforgettable experience for you and the people you love most.

For Jean and Robert, bringing their guests from the United States to Bordeaux was an opportunity to share not only a wedding day, but also a full sensory experience centered around French art de vivre, meaningful moments, and exceptional hospitality.

One of the keys to a seamless destination wedding is surrounding yourself with trusted professionals who understand how to create an effortless experience from beginning to end. From the refined atmosphere to the guest experience, every detail contributed to making this destination wedding in Bordeaux feel both luxurious and deeply human.

A MODERN "CALLA LILIES" DECORATION

Inside the reception space, the design continued with the same minimalist sophistication as during the ceremony.

Draped ceilings brought softness and dimension to the room, while elegant calla lilies placed in graphic vases created a modern and understated atmosphere. Jean’s bouquet, composed entirely of white calla lilies, perfectly reflected the refined aesthetic they envisioned for their wedding at Château de Garde.

A WEDDING FILLED WITH JOY AT CHATEAU DE GARDE

Jean and Robert created a wedding experience that felt timeless, emotional, and incredibly personal. The kind of celebration guests will remember for years to come.

As a destination wedding photographer in Bordeaux, documenting weddings like this is always an honor: honest moments, intentional design, and stories deeply rooted in human connection.

If you are dreaming of your own wedding at Château de Garde or planning a destination wedding in France, Bordeaux offers an unforgettable setting where elegance, gastronomy, and emotion naturally come together.
